Ask the Desker...

How's work going?
Very well. Thanks for asking.

Why did you decide to take space at BDS?
Two reasons for taking a desk at BDS. First, I had worn out all my pyjamas and couldn't face another trip to BHS. Second, I knew that the thought of being greeted by the lovely Sarah at the front desk would get me to work first thing every morning.

If you weren't doing what you are doing, what would you do?
Well if money wasn't a factor I would start a jazz club. A kind of Ronnie Scott's by the sea.

If you were alone at BDS and could play a song really loud, what would it be?
That’s tough. Even Sue Lawley lets you pick 7 before you get to choose just one. It could be Charlie Parker's Laura, or Ana Maria by Wayne Shorter. Perhaps Coleman Hawkins playing Body and Soul or Don Pullen's Ode to Life....
Hell, no one's listening, I'm going to go for ABBA's Dancing Queen.

What might we be surprised to know about you?
Before moving to Brighton, I could often be seen dressed in platform boots, afro wig, red glitter suit and extravagant jewellery, playing bass for Love Machine, a successful disco tribute band on the Manchester club circuit.

What do you like to read when you're not working?
Recently discovered the novels of Haruki Murakami. Can't put them down, just the most gripping, surreal & imaginative stuff I've ever read.

How do you find the location of BDS?
Couldn't be more central. It's like working in Covent Garden, without the hassle. The toughest decision of the day is where to get lunch.

Couldn't work without...?
2 large mugs of homeopathic tea in the morning.

How do you take your tea?
Tea? Shaken not stirred. No seriously, I drink a homeopathic tea blend. 0 molecules of tea to 1,000,000,000 water suffused with a Nero's coffee concentrate for flavour.

Ideal meal for two in Brighton?
Depends who's paying. Me: fish & chips on the pier. You: A lobster dinner at English's.

In five year's time, I hope to be... ?
Running a busy jazz club in Brighton.

Is there something else you would like to say?
Anything else....Hey Alain, when are we going for dinner?
